Class Policies
Classes are limited to 6 students, so please sign up in advance. Payment is required to reserve your space. Class fees will be refunded if we are notified at least 7 days before the class begins. If the class is canceled by Spool, you will receive a full refund.
Sewing machines are provided for each student. Materials are not included unless otherwise noted.

Ready to get sewing but not sure how to start? Then this is the class for you! You'll learn the basics of using a machine and make your first foray into rotary cutting to create a pretty and useful grocery tote.

Spruce up your wardrobe with your own handmade, one of a kind skirt! Learn to use a pattern and take good measurements to ensure a proper fit in this 2 session class. We will be using Amy Butler's Barcelona Skirts pattern. Use this pattern again and again to create a unique skirt for every day of the week!
To take this class, you should know your way around a sewing machine and have completed at least one other small project. Please come to the shop to pick out your fabric a few days prior to the class, so that you can launder it before the first class.
Materials: pattern, 2 yards fabric, 2 yards lining fabric, thread and 7" zipper. Use of our rotary cutters, scissors, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Zipper Pouch

Learn to make this fun and handy zipper pouch - perfect for keeping small essentials together. Great for yourself and for holiday gifts!
Materials to be chosen at the beginning of class. You will need a quarter yard of 2 fabrics, thread and a zipper. Use of our rotary cutters, scissors, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Corded Pillows

Impress friends and relatives with your sewing skills by making a corded, zippered, pillow! A dynamic accent for your living space, or a thoughtful gift. You will make one pillow in this 2 session course. You should be familiar with sewing basics to take this class. Materials to be chosen at the beginning of the first class.
Materials: 3 yards of fabric, thread & cording. Materials cost will vary depending on fabric choice. Use of our rotary cutters, scissors, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Smocked Sundress
$40 pattern included

Smocking is everywhere this season, and now you can make your very own summery dress dress using this fun technique. Heather Ross has generously provided a free pattern on her website to make this adorable frock! You should be familiar with sewing basics to take this class. PLEASE NOTE: This class has homework to be completed outside of class hours.
Materials: thread, elastic thread, 2.5 yards fabric. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Nine Patch Quilt Block
$20 plus materials
Sunday, June 21: 3-5PM
Learn to make this beautiful and useful block, neatly and efficiently. Once you know the basics, you'll be stitching up everything from baby quilts to beach blankets in no time! Learn to use a rotary cutter and ruler and discover the ease of chain piecing. You should be familiar with sewing machine basics to take this class.
Materials: 1/4 yard each of 2 fabrics, thread. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Half Square Triangle Quilt Block

Sunday, June 28: 3-5PM
The half square triangle is the basis for many beautiful blocks, like the friendship star, pinwheel, and chevron. You will learn to use a rotary cutter and ruler, chain piecing, and a simple technique for making perfect triangles! You should be familiar with sewing machine basics to take this class.
Materials: 1/4 yard each of 2 fabrics, thread. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Wrap Skirt
$40 plus materials
Saturday, July 11 and 18 from 3 to 5 PM
Indygo Junction's It's a Wrap pattern is a cool solution to hot summer days! In this class you will learn to use a pattern, and make a pretty and versatile wrap skirt. You should be familiar with sewing machine basics to take this class.
Materials: Materials: Pattern, thread, 3 yards of fabric. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Party Dress
$80 plus materials
Thursdays, July 9, 16 and 23, from 6 to 8 PM
This pretty dress will show off your feminine side! Using Kwik Sew pattern 3521, you will learn to properly fit a pattern to your specifications. You should be familiar with sewing machine basics and have previously used a paper pattern. This is a great class for graduates of our Aline skirts class!
Materials: Pattern, thread, 2.25- 3.25 (depending on size) yards of fabric, 20"zipper. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Apple-a-Day Lunch Bag
$35 plus materials
Saturday, August 22 from 1 to 4 PM
Make our adorable lunchbag just in time to send the kids back to school, or to carry your own lunch into the Fall! You should be familiar with sewing machine basics to take this class.
Materials: 1/2 yard of 2 fabrics, 2 yards of interfacing, velcro. Kits with the apple fabric will be available for class. Use of our rotary cutters, mats, and rulers are included for class sessions.
Open Sewing
$10 per hour
Wednesday through Friday from 12-5
You are welcome to use our sewing machines, irons, and all the tools we have available, for your projects. We offer a clean, bright, quiet space to get creative. You should be familiar with sewing basics for this independent project time.
